Spiderman ( English : Spider-Man ) is a fictional superhero in comic books published by Marvel Comics . The character was created by writer Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko , first appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962). Lee and Ditko created the character as a teenage orphan, who was raised by Aunt May and Uncle Benraised and must deal with the normal changes of adolescence while also having to put on a different outfit to fight crime. Spider-Man's creators gave him superhuman strength and agility, the ability to stick to most surfaces, spew silk from his wrists, and react to hazards quickly thanks to " spider senses", helping him fight off his enemies.
